Berkeley Springs, WV – June 30, 2025 CNB Bank is proud to announce that President & CEO Mark Harrell has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Baronner Award by the Community Bankers of West Virginia (CBWV). The honor was announced Saturday, June 28th at the CBWV Annual Convention.
The Robert “Bob” Baronner, Jr. Outstanding Community Banker Award recognizes a community banker in West Virginia who best exemplifies the spirit of community banking and who is acknowledged by his or her peers as an exceptional banker, community banking advocate, and community leader. Nominations were received from community banks across the state of West Virginia. The award is named in memory of the late Bob Baronner, a respected community banker and passionate supporter of community-focused financial institutions.
This year’s award holds special meaning, as Mark Harrell was not only a close personal friend of Bob Baronner, but also played an integral role in the creation of the award following Bob’s passing. His efforts helped ensure that Bob’s legacy would live on through the recognition of those who embody the values and leadership Bob championed.
Mark Harrell has served as President & CEO of CNB Bank since 2016. Under his leadership, CNB has grown its footprint throughout the region while staying true to its core mission of providing personalized, relationship-based banking. A dedicated advocate for the community banking model, Harrell has worked tirelessly to ensure CNB Bank remains a strong, independent institution focused on serving the people and businesses of the Eastern Panhandle and surrounding areas.
“It is a tremendous honor to receive this award named after Bob—someone I was proud to call a friend and mentor,” said Harrell. “His dedication to community banking left an indelible mark on all of us. To be recognized by my peers in his name is incredibly meaningful, and I share this honor with the entire CNB Bank team.”
Harrell has been a leader in both the banking industry and in the communities CNB serves. He is actively involved in several local organizations, economic development initiatives, and has been instrumental in expanding financial education efforts throughout the region.
CNB Bank congratulates Mark on this well-deserved recognition and thanks the Community Bankers of West Virginia for their continued commitment to strengthening community banks across the state.
